Hotel Life

It sounds wonderful right? I think it would have been wonderful if it was about 5 years ago and it was just Wayne and I. Room service, free breakfast, your own pool....yet with 2 young kids the novelty wares of quickly! Very quickly!!! Even 5 years ago I don't think I would have liked it for 2 months. Yes that is right I said 2 months!! I can't believe I did it either. It was a very long 2 months!!

Top 10 things We hated about hotel life (in no particular order)
1. No Closet: There was a closet for coats. There was not a closet big enough for a family of four. I turned over a table in the hotel and hung our clothes on the legs. One of the Maids was very impressed with my creativity.
2. No Washer or Dryer: There was some in the hotel but they were two floors down.... sooooo annoying. I already dislike laundry so it made it 10 times worse.
3. Same breakfast for 2 months: It gets old fast!!! Real FAST!! We tried to go out for breakfast some days but it is hard with 2 kids which brings me to #4...
4. No Kitchen: I think that part of my stomach is fried from eating so much fried food. We could not cook so we ate out almost everyday. It is so annoying to take the kids out every night!!! Our first meal after we got our home tasted amazing!!!
5. BAD Neighbors: Slamming doors, loud TV, smoking us out, LOUD LOUD LOUD.
6. No personal touch: It made the move harder because it didn't feel like home. Apri really missed her toys and her own things, so did I.
7. No room: No room to play....or do anything for that matter: It was so hard to entertain Apri.
8. Sharing a room with the kids: Need I say more?
9. No Car: For the first 2 weeks I didn't have a car so that made the hotel feel like a prison. I couldn't go anywhere and it was too cold to go for a walk.
10.No Ice: Again they did have ice it was just two floors down...so annoying!

ONE MORE....
11. No Internet!!!!! I thought I was going to die!!! I didn't realise how often I used it. I think it was kind of good for me...but it was hard.

Top 10 things we loved about hotel life:
1. Homemade cookies every night: Wayne really misses that!
2. Swimming pool
3. Housekeeping: It was nice to have our bed made everyday....no I don't make my own bed everyday.
4. Clean Crisp Sheets: I love to sleep in crisp clean sheets!!!
5. Free Cable: #1 on Wayne's list
6. Free toilet paper: And a few other free things.
7. No Bills: The biggest blessing and the real reason it was worth living in the hotel for 2 months. Wayne's company paid for the hotel and all of our food while we lived there.
8. No Bills
I must still be pretty damaged from this experience. I am having a really, really hard time trying to list 10 good things.
9. Getting Creative: Apri and I had to use our imaginations to keep us busy and we had some fun.
10. It made me more grateful: I am so much more grateful for all the things I didn't have in the hotel. Like...room to play with the kids, a big closet, washer and dryer in my house. We are so blessed!!!

I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS TO ANYONE!!! Yet, I think I would do it again if we could save alot of money. No....it wasn't worth it!

So next time you think "Wouldn't it be great to live in a hotel?"....think again!!!

2 months!!! You're SO brave! I think I would enjoy the maid service and that is all. How did you stand it?! Just thinking about not having access to a kitchen makes me want to cry. No fridge? AH!

Oh my gosh Renee!! Just reading this - I KNOW I would go absolutely insane if I were in the same situation. I am super impressed that you are sane after living in a hotel for 2 months. It does seem like it'd be fabulous...until you think about all the things that were on your list, ha ha.

Oh my...I can't even imagine. I know when I go on vacation for one week I can't wait to get home to eat home cooked food. You guys are awesome! I am so glad you survived...knew you would. We miss you so much. I am so glad you finally had the opportunity to update your blog. So happy to hear you are doing well.

I can't believe you survived! I remember when we moved to Utah and 8 of us lived in Grandma and grandpa's motorhome at Cherry Hills in the winter. Good times!

I thought of one you could add to the good things. Good people you met who invited you over so you could escape the hotel. I'm so glad you are in your house!!!
