Cave in the Rock

We had a great Labor Day!! Last minute on Sunday night I decided that we needed to find something fun and simple to do. We decided to go to Cave in the Rock which is located right next to Amish Country. It was really neat. It worked out great considering we didn't plan ahead much. We went with our friends the Bakes it was great to spend time with them. To get to the Cave in the Rock you ride a ferry across the Ohio river. The kids loved this of course. I thought it was pretty neat too!

I think they got about 12 cars on, it wasn't a very big Ferry.
After we got across we ate a picnic lunch and then explored the cave. It was really cool and bigger than I had expected. It was a beautiful view as well because it was right next to the river. Apri and Camden loved it! They climbed all over and had a blast.

The kids gathered this wood pile in the cave.

They had a small playground by the cave that the kids played on for a while
There are several Amish communities in Kentucky. It was neat to drive through and see their way of life a little bit. We went to a small store there and tried some food made by the Amish. We also saw them working in the fields. They were using a plow pulled by a horse it looked hard. I can't imagine life without electricity and cars. I admire the Amish they are hard workers.

As we were driving through Amish Country we went and looked at a small bridge made by the Amish. It swayed when you walked on it. It felt scary but actually looked pretty sturdy. Wayne had fun scaring Apri by making it move even more....poor Apri.

We choose to drive across this small stream. We were debating if we should because we weren't sure how deep it was. Our friends the Walkers came here once and I guess some Amish kids were on the bridge and taunted them to cross the stream because they were worried about crossing as well. Kind of Funny!
